Van Vollenhoven & Co's Princesse 5,5% TORP - 2L Keg
A special type of wheat beer with 50% wheat, fermented with German Bavaria yeast and a saison yeast. The fresh Princesse Beer has a high carbon dioxide content and is seasoned with orange peel and coriander.
Princesse Bier stems from the 18th-century Dutch beer tradition, following the wedding of Prince Willem IV to an English princess. It was a spring beer that was widely exported well into the 19th century, and a specialty of the Van Vollenhoven brewery.
In 1885 40% of the total beer production consisted of Princesse Bier. In 1900, however, the Van Vollenhoven Brewery definitely stopped producing Princesse Bier, because lager gained popularity. Almost 120 years later, Brouwerij Poesiat & Kater is bringing the legendary Van Vollenhoven Princesse Bier back onto the market.
